Well, haven’t written much lately. PJ has been a little clingy. Makes it hard to get anything done! He has to be in the same room as me, and preferabley hanging onto one of my legs. He thinks he’s my symbiont.
Josh is on his surgery rotation – he’s starting week 4 of 8. PJ and I were in Colorado with his sister Priscilla and her family for 10 days at the beginning of it. Our flight there was crazy. Here’s my VENT to my friends:
“We got on the plane, thunderstorms in Atlanta, 7pm… They say delay, you can get off the plane if you like, we’ll update you at 8pm. But stay in the gate because things could change. Can I leave my carryon on here? Yes, of course. So I go out to the gate andlet PJ crawl around and get a little more filthy from the floor and chairs. I call Josh on the phone and tell him we are delayed. I got to the bathroom. Somehow I missed the reboarding at 7:45pm. A few minutes later, I get inline at the desk to ask if my connecting flight to Denver will work. I notice they are closing the doors. Hey, I say, I’m supposed to be on that flight. Too late, the doors are closed. What?! My carry on is on there. His food is on there, my stroller is on there! Sorry, I can’t do anything, we MADE an announcement – where were you?! Then another person walks up. Is our flight leaving?! Then another. And another. Seven of us total. Some carry ons on board. What kind of security is that I ask? Anyway, we’re home. Had to have Josh come back to pick me up again. Scheduled to leave again at 9am. I don’t want to go anywhere! Whah! No compensation. They MADE an announcement. Where was I? ARGH!!!! I’m sick of flying!!!”
I think they gave our seats away… Anyway, we ended up leaving the next evening. Had to change flights again to a flight through Cleveland. That Atlanta airport seems about as bad as San Fransisco!
We had a good time with Priscilla, Chic and Sam, and Dave when he was home. Priscilla had a lot of morning sickness and I had gotten some sort of sinus/resperatory infection from the flight. We were two peas in a pod! Lots of walks and outings, naps in the car…
The flight back was a little traumatic, too! Another rant to my computergirls:
“PJ did OK, but I set him on the seat on the way back from Denver, first leg of flight, set my bag in the overhead – he must have stood up or something in those 0.5 seconds because I heard a thud and he was on his back between the seats with that “I’m screaming but nothing is coming out” look on his face. I felt terrible! I picked him up and cuddled him… Then he spit up. Three times. We weresoaked. And I didn’t have a change because he hasn’t done that in months. Itwas a stinky ride home. Thankfully, PJ slept for most of it!”
Then I got home and got a bladder infection! I guess my body is showing signs of stress. At least I’ve got a good attitude so far. It’s worse to be depressed and healthy than have a few problems and be happy…
We’re stretching the days out and taking our time with errands and naps. I’m spoiling PJ, rocking him or nursing him to sleep. But we have the time since Josh isn’t around much right now. We’ll go back to a schedule when things get more normal.
And now my sister Kym and nephew Brock and coming to visit on the 18th for 10 days. Hooray! I think we’ll go down to Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington and stay at my friend Michelle’s house. We should have a good time.
PJ is experimenting with pointing at things. He smiles when you look at where he points. And he is SO close to walking. You can walk him with one finger and he has taken a step or two without.
We didn’t do a whole lot for his birthday. We went to Leigh Anne and Hal’s and had dinner. I brought his birthday cake over – a fruit covered cheesecake. He liked it. Then we went to watch fireworks. PJ hardly took a nap that day and was able to stay up and watch fireworks without falling apart. Amazing.
