Well, we are now on week 34 of the pregnancy! Praise the Lord we have made it this far. Hoping to go at least two more weeks.
I thought for sure today was Friday. Somehow, in all the variety in my days, I lost a day. I don’t know how it happened. I knew it was the 24th. Just thought we were on Friday.
Anyway, the last day or so, it didn’t seem like PJ has been as active as he was. For a few weeks there, he was doing frequent somersaults. He seems to have slowed down. I thought it was OK, but seeing as we’re being extra special careful here, we called the hospital to ask about it. Of course, they wanted us to come in and monitor the baby to be sure. So we went. Another outing for me! Woo-hoo!
Everything checked out fine. They put the heart monitor and contraction monitor on me for about an hour or so. Got to meet another one of the doctors on my team: Dr. Mueller-Heubach (sp?). They call him Dr. MH. He’s German. So now I think I’ve met all seven high-risk pregnancy doctors.
Was relieved to find out everything is good. PJ performed very well. He is pretty well-trained on the heart monitor now!
So what is left? Another non-stress test (the heart monitor and contraction hook-up) next Wednesday. Then the amniocentesis and non-stress test on the following Wednesday… then if all looks good, c-section on the 8th. Wow. Of course, if we get a miracle and God moves the placenta, well, then, we’ll be having to wait a bit longer for a natural birth!
I can mentally grasp that there is this little person in me waiting to come out, but it is just a weird concept. Hard to imagine. I am getting excited to meet him face to face instead of just seeing him move around my lumpy belly. Or kicking my ribs or my bladder. Or feeling his little daily hiccup spells.
I keep thinking, we’ll get past this stage and we won’t have to worry about him anymore. But I’m realizing that you just worry about them for the rest of your life, don’t you? That’s what my parents do…
