A victorious day! A move from the NICU to the intermediate area! He’s able to eat, poop, breathe, and keep up his temperature. We were quite celebratory today. Went into Greensboro to get a co-sleeper for the bedroom. I had been debating about it, but once I saw PJ in the NICU I knew I’d want him right next to me at home for awhile. We drove home in quite a downpour. Josh and I looked at each other and said, “rain means change.” This was a lesson I learned in English in high school. I can’t remember what teacher it was, but she said rain in a novel or movie (especially a movie) always means a significant change is about to happen. We always spot it in movies. We stopped at Fuddrucker’s and Josh bought us hamburgers.
We visited PJ late at night. He nursed well. Burped well. Got to disconnect him from everything to hold him. Mom and Josh held him about 10 minutes each. He was wearing clothes when we got there!
We started to arrange things for him coming home. He has to pass a car seat test. Get circumcised. Get newborn pictures. Hearing test. We plan to spend Sunday night at the hospital with him in the parenting room practicing feeding him through the the night while he is on the heart and breathing monitors. What else? I can’t remember. We were up late late late and I think I overdid it. I was planning to go to church Sunday, but I think I will stay home and rest up for Sunday night.
