Gas as bad as ever this morning! And I’m on the third day – no dairy, no eggs, no grains (except rice)… Seems worse than before this diet. I’m thinking what is consistent here? I’m eating less on this diet because I don’t know what to eat. I don’t think it makes any dietary sense, but I’m starting to wonder if it would make a difference if I ate during the night. He doesn’t seem to get this gas until around 4am, after I haven’t eaten for several hours. Then, after we get up for awhile, he’s much better. He still has gas throughout the day, but not enough to bother him too much… Maybe not eating makes my milk harder to digest? I’ve done some looking in books and online and most babies with gas trouble have it in the evening after Mom has been eating some food that offends throughout the day. I haven’t seen anything on this gas in the early morning bit. That is when you make the best milk supposedly. I hate that it interferes with his sleeping so much. It makes the mornings pretty tough because he’s grouchy! I get grouchy, too…
On other fronts, he’s been doing well when I take him places during the day. Better in his car seat lately. I think he’s concentrating on looking at things around him more and grabbing at stuff with his hands. He’s pushing up on his legs a lot to try to stand when you hold him. He’s blowing saliva bubbles and sometimes makes “ummm-mah!” sounds which I take as Mom. I say, “Yes, I am your Mah!” He just giggles.
Still pooing in the mornings. We are now adding the pee component more often and here is where it gets difficult! When I hold him by his thighs over the toilet, it’s a great position for poo, but the pee goes straight up! So I’ve got to work on that… Rather have poo in the toilet and pee all over than the reverse though… hmm, having a baby makes this discussion seem very normal.
Talked to my friend April last night. She is 19 weeks pregnant and going for an ultrasound today. I can’t wait to hear whether it’s a boy or girl! I’m so excited for them! She is a financial consultant at Cornerstone Advisors, Inc. in Bellevue, WA. She wanted to stay working, but part time. She did all this research and turned in a 5 page proposal asking to work MWF and two mornings at home. Steve can stay with the baby on Fridays and his parents can take Monday and Wednesday. Well, her business hasn’t ever done this, but was impressed with her research and obvious desire to do this, so they accepted. What they haven’t told her yet is what they will pay her! I just think it’s cool when Moms can break the mold.
Anyway, I better break the mold and work on the ASDHA website while I have PJ napping for a bit!
