I have to say I am bummed! The picture in the last post is the last picture I was able to get off my camera. My compact flash card has kerflopped. It says it needs to be formatted and it won’t format. It’s had a good three years. I’m not sure what I should have expected out of it. And it happened on my birthday! And I just got my travel tripod from Josh today and I can’t take any pictures! Bummer. I’ll have to look and see what my options are. I really would like to get a 512 MB or 1 G card, but I don’t want the card to be slow. Need to do some research.

Still working on getting my paperwork and the new desk (my steal of a deal from Habitat for $35 – a gray office desk 6’x3′ with holes for computer cords) situated. So the living room is a bit chaotic. It takes a good amount of emotional energy and an engineering mind to get this all put together nicely. I’ll take a picture when I’m done – if I have a new flash card!

Baking some oatmeal cookies for the third year / Better Halves croquet tournament tomorrow. Hope they come out ok. I usually bake chocolate chip or snickerdoodles… Josh’s favorite is oatmeal raisin. And of course, I really don’t care for oatmeal raisin cookies. So I’ve made two versions – oatmeal-raisin and oatmeal-cranberry-white-chocolate-chip. The dough is good.

Tomorrow is Saturday. It’s been hot here. Even in the house. We might have to break down and get another fan. The air works pretty good, but it doesn’t circulate through the house very well. We just have a downstairs and an upstairs unit.

I went to a children’s clothing sale at New Phildelphia Moravian Church today. I am still overwhelmed with the task of getting baby stuff. I just don’t know what I’ll need or like. And I am more concerned with paying the bills next month than dressing P.J. four or five months from now. I’m hoping I can just get what I need when I need it! Or that I’ll inherit what I need from friends who have done this before!

I wanted to check out the Infant Potty Training book from the library here. Did I mention they don’t have it in the whole Forsyth County library system? I was really surprised. I went and searched the Anchorage library system and guess how many they have? Six copies. We are bunch of granolas up there! The do have a book and a video on baby sign language though. So I’m curious to check that out on my next visit.

Also am in interested in Yancey’s book The Search for an Invisible God: What Can We Expect?. I picked it up at my friend Rebecca’s house the other day and read the first chapter. I really identified with it. Although, in retrospect a few days later, I wonder if he isn’t just an intellectual snob? I don’t know. I guess I’ll have to read more to find out….
