PJ finally lost his umbilical cord last night! Woo-hoo! I have been waiting to give him a bath and now I can! It just fell off when Josh was changing his diaper.

He went from 1 until 5am on his feeding, so I got a little more sleep than usual.

PJ this morning in his co-sleeper… a place we are hoping he will spend a little more time at night! (He likes to sleep on our chests at night when he is fussy.)

We took him to the lactation consultants at the hospital to be weighed again. He’s broken the 8lb barrier! 8lbs, 4.6 oz – naked and empty stomach! We last weighed him naked 10 days ago and he was 7lbs, 4 oz. That’s 16 oz gain in 10 days. They hope for 4-6 oz gain per week. I nursed him while there and he showed off by nursing for about 45 minutes. He’s usually tanked out at 20 minutes.

Med school has started up for the first years. Josh doesn’t start until Aug 23. It is fun to see the new students come in. Feels like we’ve come a long ways even though we’ve got three more years of school to go… That first week was really overwhelming last year. Now we’re bringing a baby to functions! How bizarre!

We’re hoping to go to the beach next week. It will be a daring outing because the drive is about 4 hours. I have a nursing cape now that should make nursing in the car or in public a bit easier…
