Today PJ and I went to the hospital to drop off our Alaska medicaid information. They are still working on all that.

While we were there, I thought we should drop by the Infant Nutrition Center and say hello. I looked at nursing bras and bought one. I won’t say what size. Too embarassing. We weighed PJ for fun: 14 lbs, 7 oz! He’s doubled his weight already. We are going to need a new car seat soon!

Then we went up to antepartem to see the nurses there. I spent three weeks up there, so there is usually someone I know up there. We said hi to Evelyn, Karla, and Julie. And one of the perinatologists, Dr. Merrill. PJ cooed and chatted with Karla. Very cute. These ladies had been so good to me when I was stuck there on bedrest. I talked with Karla about our trip to Alaska – she really wants to visit Alaska. I told Julie I was having a hard time with the infant potty training (she had seen me reading about it in the hospital).

On the way back down the elevator I decided we should check in with the NICU. Karla had asked us if we were going to visit them the last time we were there. I was hesitant before because he had only been there 9 days and no one would remember us. This time I thought it would be cool to see Dave the nurse practitioner we liked. We walked down the hall to the NICU and I realized why I hadn’t visited before. I didn’t want to. It’s all nice and decorated with Anne Geddies, but felt like the valley of the shadow of death to me! Ugh, the emotions that conjured up! And then we went in and heard all that beeping. Ugh. I told the receptionist who we were and that we wanted to visit. She said feel free to walk around and say hi to whoever we recognized. Some nurses came over. One of them started talking to PJ and he started crying! I began to think that PJ could remember this place! I tried pushing him around in his stroller, giving him his plug, nothing would console him. He wasn’t crying loudly, he was just fussy and generally miserable. Granted, it was probably about time for a nap, but the timing was uncanny. I asked about Dave. He was out today. So we left. When we got to the hallway, PJ fell asleep…
