We put a gate up for Eliza today. She is now on the move. She learned how to sit up by herself over the weekend, and that combined with her army crawl has set her free. She can now follow us into any room (as long as there aren’t any stairs in the way).
She also clapped for the first time today. We went to a resident worship night. Last week we tried to go with the kids. We were an hour late and showed up at the wrong house. So we just went to Starbucks. This week, I cancelled another thing I had going tonite, took a shower with two screaming children, had dinner early, and we showed up on time at the right house. We could only last an hour (just the singing part) because the kids were too squirmy. We left just as soon as everyone started talking. Bummer. Maybe we’ll bring a playpen next week. That is, if we aren’t kicked out because of PJ and Jade causing a constant ruckus during worship.
PJ got a spanking with a wooden spoon for the first time. He pooed his pants this morning. He did it yesterday morning and last evening as well. Yesterday morning I put him in the empty tub and held a small trash bag and had him take off his clothes, pick up the poo, wipe his butt, etc. I thought that would do it. And then he pooed in the evening. And now this morning again. These are deliberate poos in the pants. I told him no more spanking with our hands. No more counting 1-2-3. I am so tired of him not taking anything I say seriously until I count or until I threaten to spank him. “Let your yes be yes and your no be no, anything else is considered evil.” That scripture is in reference to your word. If you have to swear by heaven and earth in order to be believed, than probably you are not telling the truth the rest of the time. So, I feel I must tighten the reign on discipline. I spanked him with the spoon, quite formally, in the chair in his room. I came back in after a few minutes. “Are you still angry, Momma?” PJ asked.
“Are you going to say you are sorry?” I asked back.
“Sorry, Momma.” he said.
“What for?” I asked.
“Sorry for throwing a fit.”
“How about sorry for pooing my pants?”
“And for pooing my pants.”
I gotta wonder if he was listening at all. The whole thing was about pooing his pants. But he did give me a hug and kiss. He doesn’t do that after a hand spanking. Was it a glimmer of repentance? Only time will tell. After that I bursted out sobbing while I was hugging him. This is so stressful. He laughed. I think because either he couldn’t tell whether I was crying or laughing or he was just nervous.
